Between 2026 and 2028, Spain will be the stage for an extraordinary natural phenomenon. In just 3 years, 3 solar eclipses will be visible. It is a unique event, as these will be the first total solar eclipses visible from mainland Europe this century.
On 12 August 2026, the total solar eclipse will be visible across approximately 40% of Spain. Regions such as Aragón, Asturias, Catalonia, Galicia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands will enjoy a perfect view of this spectacular natural phenomenon.
On 2 August 2027, another total solar eclipse will occur, with totality lasting more than 4 minutes. It will cross Spain's southern coast and promises to be one of the most spectacular astronomical events of the decade.
On 26 January 2028, Spain will complete this remarkable series with an annular solar eclipse. Just before sunset, the famous 'Ring of Fire' will appear, creating a stunning ring of light around the moon.
The solar eclipses take place during the summer holiday season and will attract thousands of visitors to Spain. Throughout the country, stargazing evenings, astronomy festivals and many other activities will be organised. Rural accommodations are also preparing to offer visitors an unforgettable experience.
